In the fitting room, measurements are taken after discussing the bra or support garment best suited to your changing breast or body shape.
For breast tenderness, a non-underwire fashion or sports bra can improve comfort.
When size has been decided, fitting the bras highlights any issues with garment anatomy. Is a wider side band needed hold the breast in at the side? Does the cup shape fully encapsulate the breast? Does the cup and band give the support needed to reduce movement? What breast form option would allow you to match the changing size of the natural breast size? What strap adjustment is needed to position the band under the breast and align the breasts?
For pelvic pain, lower leg swelling or to aid recovery after a caesarean section, a support garment can improve comfort and mobility. Some garments only provide one body measurement for size selection. When body shape is changing, fitting the garment can be a better way to know if the sizing provides the even tightness of fit needed for comfort and support. Fitting also gives a better understanding of how difficult the garment might be to put on and take off.
When support wear is worn it is better to discuss the garment with your GP, Midwife and/or Physiotherapist to ensure you are aware of the appropriate wear frequency and any other health issues.
