Whether you’re wearing a post-surgery garment, fashion bra, breast form or swimsuit, the right care can extend its life.
With wear, residues such as perspiration, oils and chemicals build-up in the fibres of the garment. Regular washing can remove these residues before they degrade fibre elasticity.
How you dry your garment is also important because elasticised fibres can degrade when exposed to heat. Air drying in the shade is the best option. Avoid tumble drying or exposing them to direct sunlight.
Then let your garment rest for a couple of days. Why? The elasticised fibres in your garment have a sort of memory. If they’re given a break from being stretched they tend to return to the original shape, and this improves comfort and support.
