Fit is dynamic, it will change over time. Retaining a good fit will depend on how the garment is adjusted as the body shape changes after surgery and/or how the garment shape changes with everyday wear.
For post-surgery compression garments, body shape and size changes as swelling reduces. Depending on the surgery and garment type, gradual adjustment or a second smaller garment may be needed to retain the firm and even pressure that promotes swelling reduction and healing.
For everyday wear lingerie and compression garments, continuous wear stresses the fabric and gradually results in the loss of the elasticity needed for a good fit. Appropriate care and letting the garment rest for a day or two between wears can extend fabric life.
