When is the Berlei YWKX Post Surgery Bra the right bra for my surgery?

The Berlei YWKX Post Surgery Bra is a good choice when recovering from surgery where the breast needs less support because it gives you the softer fit that separates and stabilises the breasts when moving about.

It's comfortable to wear during recovery when fewer or less intrusive breast incisions mean breast stability improves wear comfort, but its softer fit is less supportive when there are more intrusive incisions, or larger breasts.

Suggestion   After surgery, NewGel+ can flatten, soften and fade breast scars.

Is this a mastectomy post surgery bra?

It can be worn as a mastectomy post surgery bra because it has pocketed cups that allow a Soft Form to be fitted for breast shape during recovery, but its lower compression is less effective in aiding swelling reduction and less supportive of a larger natural breast after a unilateral mastectomy.

Is this bra easy to manage after surgery?

It's easy to put on in hospital after surgery, it's band and straps are easy to adjust as swelling reduces, but its non-openable shoulder straps are better for surgery where the surgeon doesn't need to check your breast(s) in hospital.

Is it comfortable to wear during radiation, chemo and at night?

The Berlei YWKX Post Surgery Bra is comfortable during radiation, chemotherapy and for night wear because its softer fit separates and stabilises the breast and is gentle on the skin.

What have we learnt about bra size when fitting post op bras before surgery and in hospital after surgery?

Small, Medium etc bra sizes are misleading because a Medium in one brand can have the same post op fit as a Small in another bra. That's why we always measure, then use the Sizing Chart.

These are our suggestions for making a better ONLINE post op bra size selection.

Before you buy a second post op bra

If your Berlei YWKX Post Surgery Bra is still a good fit and not more than 2-3 weeks old, go with the size on the label.

If your bra is more than 2-3 weeks old it may have started to stretch, and as your swelling goes down it will start feeling a bit loose, so it can be better to measure for size.

How to measure and check your pre-surgery bra size
