For abdominal surgery, a zip or clip fastener reduces stress on the incision when taking the garment on and off.

If liposuction is also undertaken and the garment fastening is over the affected area, ask your surgeon if it will affect the outcome.

Whilst a second garment allows one to be washed, dried and rested, it can be better to wait until after surgery because, as swelling reduces, a smaller size may be needed.
