Herniorrhaphy, Hernioplasty, Laparoscopic (Keyhole) Surgery
A femoral hernia can appear as a bulge in the groin, upper thigh or labia.
They are more likely to be unilateral than bilateral and are more common in women because of the bone structure of the female pelvis.
Most importantly, research suggests that surgical repair is needed because they incarcerate and strangulate with significantly greater frequency. Depending on the diagnosis, the Surgeon may nominate a compression garment to minimise further damage and improve mobility whilst waiting for surgery or to aid after surgery recovery.

Garments to or below the waist provide cover beyond the incision(s).
A closed crotch can avoid the crotch opening not covering the hernia or edge seams aggravating the hernia.
Closed crotch garments typically do not have fasteners.
After sutures are removed or dissolve and skin fully closes, 100% medical grade silicone ointment and sheets act as a protective barrier over scars, reducing water evaporation and helping stop excessive scar tissue build-up.
