What is the size of a tube of NewGel+E?
This is the 15g tube. We stock both the 15g and 30g tubes of NewGel+E.
Should I use a NewGel+E Gel or a Sheet Product?
NewGel+E Silicone Gel works well when on parts of the body where there's frequent movement (e.g. elbow, knee etc) or the scar is seen (e.g. neck, face etc), or there's an intricate shape (e.g. fingers, eyelids, ears etc).
NewGel+ Sheet, Strips and Shapes are better for areas of the body with less movement (e.g. abdomen, chest, arm, leg, breast etc).
You can alternate between NewGel+E and a Sheet, Strip or Shape (e.g. sheet during the day and gel at night, or vice versa), but DO NOT use the Gel under a Sheet Product.
Should I buy NewGel+ before or after surgery?
It will be 2-3 weeks after surgery before you can start using NewGel+E, so there's time to choose the right tube size.
Is the NewGel+E 15g tube the right choice for my scar?
Determining if the NewGel+E 15g tube is right for treating your scar isn’t an exact science. It’s more about getting better value from your tube of NewGel+E.
When we discussed this with NewMedical Technology (the maker of NewGel+), they suggested using the 15-gram tube of NewGel+E to treat scars up to 5-7.5cm long.
Used for this scar size, their experience suggests the 15g tube can last up to 4 weeks when appropriately applied, giving you time to start seeing results.

How do I use NewGel+E?
Yes, this is the boring bit, but the instructions have useful information about appropriate use, getting better results and getting better life from NewGel+ scar management products.
Applying NewGel+E Ointment to the scar
When the skin has been washed and dried, and is free of skin lotions, apply a thin layer of NewGel+E, gently massage the gel over the scar and the skin just beyond the scar.
Wait for the silicone layer to dry before dressing or applying make-up. When dry, you can apply makeup over the silicone layer.
How long do I wear NewGel+ each day?
12 hours a day is suggested because the longer the wear the greater the benefit.
You need to wear NewGel+E for at least 6 hours a day, and it can be worn up to 24 hours a day, but for longer wear it needs to be re-applied 2 to 3 times.

What is NewGel+E Silicone Gel made from?
NewGel+E Advanced Silicone Gel is made from medical grade polymerized siloxanes (silicone gel) plus 1% Tocopherol (Vitamin E).
The 1% Vitamin E enhances the capacity of NewGel+E to soften and moisturise the scar.
Does NewGel+ have regulatory approval?
NewGel+ Scar Management Products have United States Food & Drug Administration (FDA) 501(k) clearance and Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approval as a Class 1 Medical Device.
